Harbor Half Day.
Four hours inside the bay and the pass: calm water, short runs and rods that rarely rest. The trip most first-timers book — and the one locals rebook.
What the morning looks like.
Lines off at 6 AM from slip 14. The captain works the grass flats and the jetties first, where speckled trout and redfish feed at first light, then drifts live bait over the bay holes for flounder. You are back at the dock by 10, fish cleaned, with the whole day still ahead of you.
Because the water stays protected, this is the trip for anyone unsure about the Gulf: young kids, grandparents, and anybody who would rather watch the shoreline than lose it.
What's included
- Licensed captain and mate
- All tackle, live bait and licenses
- Life jackets in every size
- Catch cleaned, bagged and iced
- Cooler space and bottled water
Good to know.
Departures run at 6 AM daily and the boat is back by 10. Afternoon slots open in summer on request. Bring sunscreen, a hat and whatever you want to drink — everything else is on the boat.
If the wind makes the pass uncomfortable, the captain shifts the whole trip into the protected bayou at no change in price. You still fish; you just don't bounce.
“Three generations, ages 7 to 71, and nobody sat down for four hours. The mate had a bait in the water before my coffee cooled.”
